I’ve noticed a pattern in my buying habits. I tend to get obsessed with an item and stock up on multiple variations of it. In the past, it’s been cocktail rings, patterned nylons, vintage clutches, bangles… etc. Pretty minor and not hugely damaging to my American Express.
Recently I’ve hopped on the scarves and sunglasses train. On a recent trip to Vegas, I came back home with no less than 5 pairs of sunglasses in my carry on. Don’t be too impressed… they were of the $10 variety. Not a big deal when you lose them in a shady Vegas casino. (Get it? Shady? I find myself really amusing sometimes.)
I like to have options. Maybe I’d like to wear red sunglasses with that blue bikini. Or leopard print shades with that black sundress. My budget doesn’t allow me to buy designer sunglasses for all of my whimsical fashion desires, so I buy cheap, fun and trendy sunglasses from places like Forever 21, H&M and Cherry Bomb.
But every so often, I come across those classic items that I absolutely have to have. The items that will go with everything, last forever and, let’s be honest, make me feel that much cooler.
The below sunnies are just the ticket:
Alexander McQueen – $360US
I love the skull detail on the sides. I’ve wanted to buy a McQueen item for years and these would definitely satisfy that desire.
Ray-Ban Aviators – $139US
These classics will never go out of style and are an excellent investment.
Cutler and Gross – D-frame Leather – $545US
Leather sunglasses… leather! The Cutler and Gross website is worth a visit…
Oliver Peoples – Chelsea – $295US
Available in a variety of colours.
